Adem is an intelligent and hardworking student who lives with his family in one of the peaceful Aegean towns in 1970’s Turkey. He has just finished 5th grade and does not want to spend his summer vacation idly and starts work as an apprentice to Kemal Usta, who sells sodas on his bike. It is the beginning of the month of Ramadan and Adem is influenced by the imam’s lectures on the importance about fasting, and Berna, the girl he likes, is also going to fast. He starts fasting in secret, hides it from his family, who does not allow him to fast because of his age. In the summer heat of the Aegean, it will not be easy while also selling soda, especially when the expiation for breaking the fast is 61 days and Berna actually kept the fast straight! Thirst and hunger exhausts him, leading him to see mirages. These difficulties that Adem goes through drag them into an adventure. How will this long, endless day end for Kemal Usta and Adem?
