Winter Sleep

Aydın has returned to Cappadocia after retiring from theater acting to run a boutique hotel that he inherited from his father. Aydın’s “hibernation”, passes with his diary keeping, column writing for a local newspaper, or by contemplating about writing a history book about theater, which he always intended to write, inside his secluded hotel. There are two women in his life: his young wife Nihal, who treats him aloof and cold in every sense; and his judgmental sister Necla, who moved in after her divorce. The arrival of winter and heavy snowfall in this small village unnerves Aydın and inspires him to go too far.
Won the Golden Palm Award at the 67th Cannes Film Festival.
